Waitutu Forest Lodge

Waitutu Forest Lodge is located in one of the most spectacular and remote locations in the South Island of New Zealand.

The Lodge is situated alongside the Wairaurahiri River, at the base of Fiordland National Park. If the weather is clear, the Solander Islands and Rakiura (Stewart Island) can be seen from standing on the south coast beach, just a few minutes walk from the Lodge. This outstanding dense podocarp forest is situated on relatively gentle terrain, comprised of a series of uplifted marine terraces. It is part of the largest area of lowland coastal forest in New Zealand.

The owners of Waitutu Incorporation, welcome guests to Waitutu Forest Lodge to have a “Waitutu Experience”. Here, guests are offered a unique insight into their world that has been shaped by their Tupuna, their Māori culture, their traditions, their environment and their whakapapa.
