At the heart of it all is manaaki manuhiri – care and respect for all people, from all places. We share with you our stories, our people, our place. You may arrive as a stranger, but you will leave Aotearoa New Zealand as members of our whānau (family). Nā reira, nau mai, haere mai!

Māori tourism, as the first impression and final exclamation mark for visitors to Aotearoa New Zealand. The Māori world provides a key point of difference for visitors and entering this world offers a fascinating first impression, a unique connection, and everlasting memories. NZ Māori Tourism works collaboratively with the Māori tourism sector to ensure that while visitors may arrive as strangers, they will leave as members of our whānau (family).

New Zealand Māori Tourism is committed to working with the Māori tourism sector to contribute to our economy, to provide compelling visitor experiences, and to build a strong commercial and cultural leadership. We support leaders and partnerships that generate value in the Māori and wider tourism sector. This ensures the growth of Māori tourism experiences, and allows Māori to take a leadership role in how visitors experience our country.
