Anna Hayes Creative

Anna Hayes Creative offers a hands-on opportunity to participate in Māori weaving in Rotorua. Visitors are invited to learn about the customs and traditions (tikanga) involved in working with NZ native flax (harakeke) while making a variety of woven objects to take home. Harakeke growing on site is viewed, and the wide range of objects that can be made using this versatile plant is explored, along with other NZ native plants traditionally used in Māori weaving.

Workshops are offered one-to-one, for small or large groups, and as team-building experiences. Handmade, exhibition-quality products are also available for purchase. Anna Hayes Creative is grounded in Māori values, traditional techniques and methods, whakapapa, and connection to whenua, providing visitors with learning, connection, inspiration, relaxation, and knowledge shared by an internationally recognised full-time fibre artist and tutor.
