To celebrate Te Wiki o te reo Māori, NZ Māori Tourism (NZMT) and Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori have developed Māori language resources specifically for tourism businesses.

These resources are offered as a gift to the sector, supporting the revitalisation of te reo Māori and its everyday use in Māori tourism. They are designed to help bring the language into conversations with manuhiri and the experiences you share.

This year’s theme, Ake, Ake, Ake – A Forever Language, continues with a focus on Te Reo Towns. It celebrates the communities that have kept te reo Māori alive and invites everyone to take part in its future.

Māori tourism is part of that story. Across Aotearoa, operators bring te reo Māori into the experiences they share with manuhiri, connecting visitors with the language and the places where it is spoken.

Te Wiki o te reo Māori is a time to celebrate and honour our language. We encourage you to use these resources in your business during the week and throughout the year, helping te reo Māori be heard and spoken across our sector.
