Native Woodcraft is a 100% Kiwi-owned factory in Dannevirke, producing a range of nearly 300 handcrafted gifts and souvenirs since 1984.
Our products range from full-size taiaha (long, wooden weapons) and tewhatewha (long wooden or bone weapons), travel-sized tekoteko (carved figures) and mere (short stone weapons) down to tiki (carved figures) and hei matau (fish hook) keyrings carved from South Island Pine and Paua shell.
For landscaping, we produce Creative Garden Panels in 50 different Kiwiana designs from Pīwakawaka and Kererū to Dolphins and Butterflies.

Horizon Tours is a locally owned whānau (family) business launched in 2018. We specialise in small group tours that bring culture and conservation to life in Dunedin. Our commitment is to offer a values-based tourism experience. A portion of every tour purchased with us will go toward supporting a community conservation program. Broaden your horizon’s by day with one of our daily tours that highlights Dunedin’s natural environment with a conservation expert with over thirty years’ experience as a DoC ranger. And travel with us into the night sky for an evening of storytelling that brings the realm of Ranginui to life.

Our cultural experience starts when our guide welcomes you into the tribal lands of Ngati Manawa (The Eel People), and regales you with stories of the area. During the tour, guests learn about the iwi’s ancestors, land settlement, spiritual connection with Eel, and takes guests through a short bush walk to hidden ancient Maori rock art carved 400 years before the Great Migration. Later, guests join in and help with the preparation of a hangi dinner at the lodge overlooking the lake, before enjoying a selection of optional afternoon cultural activities. Kohutapu Lodge can also offer daytime tours and gourmet indigenous lunch tours for the mature market, overnight accommodation, full and half day guided fishing and hunting trips as well as overnight marae stay and community visits/cultural exchange within our schools and community.
