APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED
You have 11 days left to enter the 2019 Māori tourism Dragon's Den!
To have the chance to showcase your idea to the Dragons, all you need to do is tell us about yourself and your idea here by 5pm, Friday 5 July.
If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to present your idea in a three-minute pitch to the Dragons and audience in Christchurch on Tuesday 13 August. The winners will be announced that evening during a networking dinner. There are four categories to choose from:
1. Bring your idea to life - $10,000
This category is for a Māori tourism idea that is just that – an idea. You may have even progressed it by having conversations with people who can assist, have the location of your experience in mind, but you need help getting to that next stage.
2. Small Māori tourism business with a big idea - $10,000
This is for established Māori tourism businesses that have an idea that will help them to grow. It may be a project, a marketing initiative, or a new experience –it’s up to you!
3. Make 2021 a gamechanger for Māori tourism businesses - $10,000
2021 sees Auckland hosting Te Matatini, America's Cup, APEC, Women's Rugby World Cup, Women's Cricket World Cup, and the men's Softball World Cup. Most of Aotearoa is accessible within two hours travel of Auckland. What's your idea for how Māori tourism businesses all around Aotearoa can leverage the opportunities over the year that these events will bring?
4. Journeys of Aotearoa through Māori tourism - $10,000
We all know about golf tourism, cycling tourism, and film tourism attracting manuhiri to Aotearoa. How and what can be done to put Maunga tourism, Awa Tourism, or Kai tourism on the map in the same way? What innovative ideas could link Māori tourism stories and/or sites of significance together to enable a visitor journey through Aotearoa under a linking kaupapa?
Only the information you provide will be considered in the shortlisting process. All applications will remain confidential and only viewed by NZ Māori Tourism staff and contractors, and Dragons.
Submit your idea by clicking on this link. Applications close 5pm, Friday 5 July.
We will only accept applications submitted through this form. Please take the time to carefully consider your application before you submit it. Word counts must be strictly adhered to, and relevant information supplied. For further information on the 2019 Māori tourism Dragon's Den, click here.
