News from NZ Māori Tourism and Māori tourism experiences around Aotearoa New Zealand

Pania's Pānui - 4 May 2018

It's been two weeks since we farewelled our manuhiri that came to Northland for the World Indigenous Tourism Summit. We have had some incredible feedback from attendees, and are aware of several new projects that are underway as a result of new relationships and ideas formed at the Summit!

The number of indigenous businesses that attended from around the globe was outstanding, and it was great that the NZ Māori Tourism team (staff and board) were able to catch up with many of the Māori tourism businesses that were in Northland for the three day Summit and the Research Symposium in Hopuhopu.

You can check out photos of the Summit here. We are in the process of uploading all the presentations onto our website, we will let you all know when they are available to view.

As we know, manaakitanga is at the forefront of everything we do, so on behalf of NZ Māori Tourism can I say a huge thank you to everyone that was involved in the Summit, whether it was a speaker, delegate, famil experience, volunteer, catering, entertainment, worker, transport provider, contractor, accommodation, host or organiser. While many of our international and local manuhiri may have arrived in Waitangi, Aotearoa as strangers, they have certainly all left as members of our whanau!

Ngā mihi, na,
Pania and the team at NZ Māori Tourism
