Waitangi Treaty Grounds
Waitangi Treaty Grounds is launching a new summer experience from Saturday the 5th December called Waitangi by Night. The new product targets New Zealanders, offering them an exclusive evening at the Treaty Grounds. Waitangi by Night features after-hours museum access, a Kiwi barbecue and a bar, dessert and lawn games at the Treaty Grounds.

Marketing Manager Nineke Metz is excited about the new experience.
“In previous summers we offered hāngā and concert evenings, which had a majority (90%) of international visitors. With our borders closed this summer, we had to think outside of the square and develop an evening experience that appeals to the Kiwi Market. Waitangi by Night is a relaxed intimate experience, with a maximum of 60 people that have access to Aotearoa’s most important historic site after hours, enjoy a meal, have a few drinks and maybe learn something as well.”
Waitangi by Night visitors receive a guided tour of Te Kōngahu Museum of Waitangi and have free access to the Treaty House, Te Whare Rūnanga and the new museum: Te Rau Aroha. Te Rau Aroha opened in February 2020 and commemorates the commitment and sacrifice of Māori in the NZ Armed Forces. Lawn games include cricket, giant jenga, giant dominoes and cubs.

The new product is available on Saturday evenings in December, February and March.
