This past weekend has seen some unprecedented and devastating weather events impacting many parts of the Upper North Island. We have gathered some of the latest safety and support information for you and/or your whānau.
What You Need to Know:
- Tāmaki Makaurau is under a state of local emergency.
- The state of emergency has been lifted for Waitomo - more here.
- Civil Defence Northland has been activated and is on standby.
- MetService has issued severe storm warnings throughout the North Island; you can monitor weather warnings here.
- For those in need of urgent help or emergency accommodation, please ring:

Civil Defence Centres have remained opened in Auckland for those who need to evacuate and can’t stay with friends or whānau. Their locations are:
- North: Massey University Albany Campus, Sir Neil Waters Theatre, Gate 1/Main Entrance (off Albany Expressway), Albany.
- West: Saint Leonard's Road School, 15 St. Leonard's Road, Kelston.
- South: Manu Tukutuku, 32 Riverton Drive, Randwick Park.
Other Locations Include:
- Manurewa Marae, 81 Finlayson Avenue, Clendon Park, Manukau City.
- Māngere Memorial Hall, 23 Domain Road, Māngere Bridge.
There are several road closures; please check here before you venture out!
Immediate Financial Support is available for those affected:
- Civil Defence payments are available for people affected by the Auckland region's flooding - you do not have to be on a benefit to qualify for this payment.
- Call Work and Income - 0800 400 100 between 8am and 5pm - to apply for a payment. See link here.
New Zealand’s five major banks are offering financial support to personal and business customers affected by flooding. The relief packages vary, but most feature a range of possible support options for both business and personal customers:

Insurance Advice:
If your business has sustained physical damage, it is important to get insurance claims underway as swiftly as possible - late notification may lead to your claim being declined.
It is also important to provide evidence of the damage to your insurer, so take lots of photos, and, where possible, avoid disposing of damaged property until your insurer has advised you may do so.
