Rua Awa Lodge offers picturesque self contained accommodation set amongst 20 acres of gardens, orchard, expansive lawns, pasture and native bush with views towards Mt Ruapehu, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro. Unique Whanganui River Experiences offers unique educational and immersive one and multi-day experiences on the Whanganui River. The fully hosted, Māori experiences are guided by trained Awa (river) navigators. Spend up to 16 hours traversing the beautiful Awa in a canoe, while learning about the rich history, kai, and kōrero. Martinborough is the home of Neighbourhood Coffee House and In The Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters. We are a micro roaster, coffee house, and retailer. We offer an exciting range of cabinet food from freshly baked rustic pastries, slices and cakes to super-food smoothies, and gluten free delights, our bakers whip up a fine batch of cheese scones every morning, voted the best in NZ by the crew at Radio Live NZ, we’re pretty super excited about that! We also scoop up NZ favourite Tip Top Ice cream from our Hood Ice cream Bar.  In The Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters deliver freshly roasted Coffee to the Wairarapa every day.  We are open 6am – 4pm, 7 Days a week

Based in Ruatāhuna in the heart of the North Island of Aotearoa, we offer the experience of a mystical, remote, pure and natural paradise with the people of this land. Our tours include Eco-cultural Experiences (2-day) for groups of 6-20 and River Fishing Tour on Horse-back (1-day & Overnight) for groups of 1-2.

Our cultural experience starts when our guide welcomes you into the tribal lands of Ngati Manawa (The Eel People), and regales you with stories of the area. During the tour, guests learn about the iwi’s ancestors, land settlement, spiritual connection with Eel, and takes guests through a short bush walk to hidden ancient Maori rock art carved 400 years before the Great Migration. Later, guests join in and help with the preparation of a hangi dinner at the lodge overlooking the lake, before enjoying a selection of optional afternoon cultural activities. Kohutapu Lodge can also offer daytime tours and gourmet indigenous lunch tours for the mature market, overnight accommodation, full and half day guided fishing and hunting trips as well as overnight marae stay and community visits/cultural exchange within our schools and community.
